On Sun, Nov 12th, we had an excellent, sparkling, severe-clear day for the Fly-In to Apple Valley. Six planes and fourteen people made this one. We really had a great time and did a little hangar flying at the restaurant. It's sure a fun way to promote aviation in an enjoyable way.

Flying out of Montgomery was Andy in a 172, Gary Kauffman & Gary Ghio (call 'em "Gary Squared") in a Cherokee Arrow, Dennis Cullum in his RV4, Chris, Jeanette, Juan and Bill in a 182, and Terry and me in a 172. Jeff & Alison flew out of Gillepie in a 172 and Corky & Melinda flew out of Redlands in their Decathalon. Some of us even found each other in the air and flew loose formation. In spite of planes with speeds varying 10-20 knots from each other, we all got to Apple Valley within 10-15 minutes of each other.

The restaurant wasn't big enough to accomodate fourteen of us at one table, but it worked out okay. The restaurant was small enough so we could talk to each other across tables in normal pilot voices... like we're accustomed to in noisy cockpits.

NEXT BREAKFAST/BRUNCH FLY-IN! SUN, DEC 17th to CALIFORNIA CITY (L71). A couple pilots suggested this one. It's about 31 miles on Palmdale's (PMD VOR) 350 radial. Mark your calendars and schedule a plane or get your bird ready!

For those of you departing from MFY, we meet us at Gibbs about 0830 to kick the tires and light the fires. Then we take off at 0900. If you are departing from another field, you can call my cell for last minute destination changes, or in the air on 123.45 freq. Hope you can make it!
