Seven people in four planes flew out of Montgomery; Mike and Terry in a 172, Chris (the webmaster) and Bill in a 182, Andy in a 172 and Jim and me in a 182RG.
The 172s left first, the 182 should have left next (but radio probs precluded that) followed by the 182RG.
On the 45 minute flight we encountered a little chop as we crossed over the hills a few miles East of Alpine. But on a day like that and with the green scenic Laguna Mtns off our left and rolling Mexican hills off our right, who cared about a little turbulence. It was a great flight. However, there was one problem... the flight was too short.
In spite of the different speeds, we all got to Calexico around the same time. Except Chris and Bill with radio probs in the 182. They got in about 15 minutes behind us, but we had drinks waiting for them.
On the field, Rosa's Plane Food Cafe had the usual good Mexican food, but this time, contrary to what was experienced last time, the service was good. Check the web for our picture at the cafe.
On the way back Bill took some pictures which are on the web.
We all got back around 1300. Again, a fun flight, but too short.
Next Fly-In on April 29th. We'll try for Camarillo(CMA) again. If the
marine layer is in, then we'll go to Fox Field. And if the layer is that
far in, then it'll be Palm Springs. Again, Chris will have locations,
routes and other info on this web site
Now for some VERY advance planning and thinking. Are you interested in going to the EAA Fly-In in Arlington, WA with us in July? You can get all the present and past info on it on the link from our main home page, or here.
Remember, for any of these Fly-Ins, you need two things... the desire to fly and... to have a good time with fellow airmen.
See you Sun, April 29th. I'll send a reminder a week before we go.
Best of clear skies and tailwinds,
TONY TEX
