Subject: POST AUG FLY-IN
Hi Guys,

Great Breakfast Fly-In to Camarillo (CMA) today. Seven planes and eleven people made it.  That's not too bad out of the 9 planes that were scheduled to make it.

Anyway, the participants today were: Jeff Picardi in a 172; Dennis Cullum in his speedy RV4; Larry Rothrock also in a very speedy Vari-Eze, Gary Kauffman & Gary Ghio in an Archer; Andy Silver in a 172; Chris Claborne (Webmaster) Jeanette and Juan in a 182 and Jim Newport and me in a 182RG.

It was one of those nearly severe clear days when we left, and even Camarillo, where we've been weathered out for many months, was calling it clear and eight.

Because the aircraft performance varied widely, everyone sort of went their own way, with the 172s going out first. Larry Rothrock flew only part way with us and had to return for a business trip. Jeff flew over the "blue" part of the chart to Catalina and then direct to CMA. He got there first and reserved a table for all of us. Two or three planes went up the coast with some going over LAX and others around the LAX Bravo Airspace. Jim & me were one of the planes that elected to go the longer, but scenic route, over Pomona, then see the Rose Bowl, Dodger Stadium, downtown LA, Burbank and Van Nuys.

Surprisingly we all got to CMA about the same time and had a good time hangar flying over breakfast. I really enjoyed it.     Next FLY-IN coming up very soon... in three weeks...  Sun, Sept 9th and as agreed upon at breakfast today it will be to BIG BEAR (L35). Get a plane scheduled NOW. General route will be MYF, Mt Dad, Palomar (CRQ), Fallbrook (L18), HDF VOR, Big Bear Dam (N34-14.5, W16-58.5) and Big Bear (L35). Check Chris' site below to view the route displayed on an aeronautical chart and meeting location and time.
