Hi Guys,

There were nineteen people in eight planes for our "Group Fly-In" to
Rosamond (L00) on Sun, Nov 17th. Yep, it was a good turn out.

Flying out of Brown Airport was Dennis Cullum in an RV-3.

From Gillespie Airport came Mike Gretton in a Lancair; Don Henry in a
Williams (ex-Money Mite); Jeff & Ryan Cary and Jerry Jackson in a C-172;
Dave & Betty Kennedy and Duncan & Gail Werth in a Skymaster; and Robert
Werve, Don MacManus, Masayuki Hashizume and Tony Pearse in another
Skymaster.

From Montgomery Airport came Chris & Mike Maier in a C-172 and Jim
Newport, Manny Ambrosio & Tony Tex in a Skymaster.

We could not have asked for a better day. It could be called CAVU, severe
clear, or anything beyond spectacular. The visibility was awesome and you
could see forever and the air was smooth as silk. It was if the "Big Pilot
In The Sky" granted a request for perfect weather for a Fly-In. Some pilots
took the inland route over Ontario or the Cajon Pass and others took the
coastal route. Whichever route, it was great flying. It was like having
rocking chairs in the sky with a bird's eye view of the world.

Everyone arrived at L00 about the same time. Well... almost everyone.
Chris & Mike Maier came in about 45 minutes late. When we chided them about
their tardiness, each smiled and pointed to the other for causing a late
departure. But they made it, even though it was about the time we were
getting dessert.

As usual, the buffet was fantastic and for a change the Golden Cantina
Restaurant was not crowded. There was breakfast food or lunch meats.
Everything from "eggs to order", to Mexican food, to spare ribs, to Polish
sausages. And to top it off, there was a good dessert bar, and of course the
Thanksgiving favorite, pumpkin pie and whipped cream. Whew, it was a "diet
busting" buffet and could make the most dedicated low calorie eater fall off
the diet wagon.

We did lots of "hangar flying" during a long and leisure breakfast. We
solved the world's problems, but spent a lot more time on our favorite
chatter...FLYING. There was much camaraderie and a great time with a good
group of flying people.

Those of you who took pictures, please send them to Chris Claborne, our
webmaster, so he can post them on our website.

Next Fly-In is on Dec 17th and we're flying to Cable Airport (CCB). I'll
send some info on this airport in a Fly-In reminder in a week or so before
we depart.

For those of you who fly Club airplanes, get on the stick and reserve a
plane RIGHT NOW for Dec 17th. And for those of you with your own flying
machines, get your maintenance, washing or polishing early.

Best of clear skies and tailwinds,

Tony Tex
