Hello Everyone,

It was a GOOD day and a FUN Fly-In to Big Bear on Sun, 8/24. The weather
really cooperated and it was CAVU and the air smooth as glass all the way
there and back.

Thirteen people in eight planes made this one.

Flying from SEE was Jeff Cary & Jerry Jackson in a 172, Dick Grothen & John
Hammerstrand in a 182, Robert Werve & Bob Ridout in a 337, and Don Henry in
a Mooney Mite.

Flying from SDM was Dennis Cullum in an RV-3.

Flying from MYF was Mike Gretton & Arnie Gallardo in a 172, Jeff Picardi in
a 172RG, and Jim Newport and Tony Tex in a 337.

Werve was first one to L35 and arranged tables and chairs at Thelma's
Restaurant by the time we arrived.

We did the usual "hangar flying" at breakfast on everything from stocks to
aviation and decided the next Fly-In will be on Sun, 9/28 to Santa Paula
(SZP). More info on SZP in the next email.

Werve, will you ask Bob Ridout to send his pictures to Chris Claborne for
our website.

The only thing difference with this Fly-In was that on the way back to San
Diego, Don Henry made a precautionary landing with his Mooney Mite at Hemet
because of excess vibration and zero oil pressure. Jeff Cary & Jerry Jackson
circle over Hemet while Mike Gretton and Arnie Gallardo circled down and
landed to assisted Don with the minor repairs. Don flew out of there with no
problem.

Other than that, it was nice day and a great Fly-In with friendly aviators
and lots of camaraderie.

Best of clear skies and tailwinds,

Tony Tex
