Hello Everyone,

Great Fly-In to Cable (CCB) on 11/23!

Ten people in five planes made this Fly-In.

Flying out of Brown Airport (SDM) in a RV3 was Dennis Cullum.

Flying out of Gillespie Airport (SEE) in a 182 were Dick Grothen & John
Hammerstrand, and in a 337 were Robert Werve, Bob Ridout & Tony Pearse.

Flying out of Montgomery Airport (MYF) in a 172 were Mike Schmied & Chris
Claborne, and in a 337 were Jim Newport & Tony Tex.

Due to a marine layer, the four planes from SEE & MYF flew out IFR. But
the plane at SDM got out VFR. Dennis in his RV3 always seems to find a hole.
The marine layer ended a few miles south of French Valley (F70) and, the
inland route was VFR with 4-5 mile vis the rest of the way to CCB.

Robert Werve got there first (he always does) and asked the waitress at
Maniac Mike's restaurant to put a couple tables together for us. The place
was crowded with lots of people and it took about 15 or so minutes to get
seated.

Over breakfast we did the usual "hangar flying" on a wide range of
subjects and agreed the next Fly-In would be to Apple Valley (APV) on
12/14/08. That's the 2nd Sunday of the month instead of the usual 3rd one
because of Christmas.

Chris Claborne and Robert Werve took pictures and Chris will post them on
our website.

Really a fun Fly-In with a great group of guys and lots of camaraderie.

By the time we returned to SAN around 1300-1400, the marine layer burned
off and it was VFR with a little scattered stuff and 5-6 vis.

Hope to see you all on the APV Fly-In on 12/14/08.

Best of clear skies and tailwinds,

Tony Tex
