Hi Guys,

The "May Grey" and low ceilings along the coast caused us to cancel the
May Fly-In to Fullerton and use our alternate Riverside. Fortunately it was
mainly along the coast.

Six people in three planes made the Fly-In and flew into Riverside.

Around 0900 Robert Werve, Denny Walker & Bob Ridout flew IFR out of SEE in
a 337. Dennis Cullum flew out of Brown Field in a thick haze in a RV3. Jim
Newport & Tony Tex flew IFR out of MYF in a 337.

Needless to say everyone took the inland route. It was clear over Ramona,
French Valley, March AFB and Riverside with 5-8 mile vis and smooth air all
the way into to Riverside.

We did the usual "hangar flying" over breakfast at the D & D restaurant at
Riverside. (You know hangar flying like, "There I was, slow and low on short
final and inverted with a dead engine"). Dennis was going to take pictures
of us at breakfast, but found his camera had dead batteries. Is that like,
"A flashlight is for carrying dead batteries"?

Coming back to SAN, SEE, SDM & MYF airports were clear even though the May
Grey and marine layer persisted along the coast.

Next Fly-In will NOT be on the third Sunday of the month. That's Father's
Day. So we'll have it the Sunday before on June 14th (Flag Day). We'll give
Fullerton another try. If the "June Gloom" does in us like the "May Grey"
did today, we'll use Flabob (Robert Werve's favorite airport) as an
alternate.

My cell phone (619-997-4858) will be on until lift-off about 0845.

Best of clear skies and tailwinds,

Tony Tex
